When tens of thousands of families were displaced by Hurricane Michael after it slammed into the Florida Panhandle, the Tinker Spouses’ Club knew we had to help.
Working together with other base agencies, the TSC sponsored the Hurricane Michael Disaster Relief Drive benefitting families affected by the hurricane. Items were collected at various locations around base, and Team Tinker donated generously to the cause. For two weeks, Team Tinker dropped off toiletries, small toys, coloring books, notebooks, batteries, household items, and more which were then placed in shoebox-sized containers and shipped to the Florida Panhandle for distribution.
In total, Team Tinker filled 100 shoebox-size containers containing more than 400 pounds of items for children and adults displaced by the hurricane. Tinker Elementary school 3rd grade students and Fredericksburg Elementary 4th grade students wrote letters of encouragement, which were also included in the packages.
Thank you to everyone who donated items, time, or money to the cause. Your gracious donations will make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by this disaster. The Tinker Spouses’ Club also thanks Tinker Credit Union, AAFES, Balfour Beatty Housing, Tinker Chapel, and the Tinker Thrift Shop Volunteers and Staff for their invaluable support.
